Alumnus Hudson Whillock Named ASU Fulton Engineering School Outstanding Graduate

CGCC Alumnus Hudson Whillock has been named the Fall 2019 Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering Industrial Engineering Outstanding Graduate at Arizona State University. He was selected by the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Programs Committee and honored at the Fulton Schools Convocation on December 17. Hudson is a 2017 CGCC graduate, earning A.A., A.A.S. and A.S. degrees prior to transferring to ASU.

“It is a huge honor to be named the Fulton Schools Industrial Engineering Outstanding Graduate,” said Hudson. “There are many excellent students in this program, so being selected by the program committee and faculty is a great sense of accomplishment.”

Hudson is a graduate of Williams Field High School, where he participated in dual enrollment classes at CGCC. Upon graduation, he enrolled at CGCC full-time and was a member of the Coyotes baseball team. Hudson was voted a team captain during his sophomore season and credits his experience as a student-athlete with helping him develop leadership and team-building skills. He was also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and participated in the Desert Code Camp.

“Chandler-Gilbert provided me a great path to further my education at ASU,” said Hudson. “The dual enrollment classes gave me a head start during my freshman year, and I enjoyed the small class sizes, when I began taking classes on campus. My professors and coaches always supported and encouraged me, allowing me to excel in my classes and on the field.”

“Hudson is the epitome of a student-athlete,” said CGCC Baseball Head Coach Russ Luce. “He is a leader without effort. His hard work and dedication allowed him to manage his coursework, especially his engineering classes, while being a starting outfielder for us. I’m proud of his accomplishments and know that this is just the start of his rewarding career.”

As an ASU student, Hudson completed internships with Abbott Laboratories, Raytheon and Intel and graduated Summa Cum Laude. He will earn his master’s degree in industrial engineering with a concentration in industrial statistics in December 2020 through the Fulton Schools’ accelerated 4+1 degree program.
